The Anglican Church in North America (ACNA) Assembly met in Wheaton, IL this past week. The week began with a meeting of the College of Bishops and concluded with the consecration of Bishop Andy Lines (GAFCON [Global Anglican Future Conference] Missionary Bishop for Europe). What makes this a powerful consecration is that Lines has
- been commissioned by a broad cross spectrum of the Communion to intervene somewhere where
- there is formal apostasy as we recognize it in that the public official doctrinal position of the Scottish Episcopal Church (SEC) as expressed liturgically and by canon has been altered to heresy.
During the consecration service, Archbishop Nicholas Okoh, (Primate of all Nigeria and Chair of the GAFCON Primates Council) preached from Matthew 28. This outstanding and courageous sermon is worthy of your attention. Particularly so as All Souls Anglican’s diocese is a diocese in the Convocation of Anglicans in North America (CANA) the missionary outreach of the Province of Nigeria. Archbishop Okoh is our primate. It also reminds us how the public official doctrinal position of The Episcopal Church as expressed liturgically and by canon was altered in 2012 to heresy that led to our sad departure and realignment in alternate episcopal oversight.
Bishop Okoh’s sermon begins at 40:07
