OUR NEXT SERMON SERIES will be Genesis 1-11. Genesis 1-11 contains some of the most familiar and most controversial narratives of the Bible as so many pour their presuppositions upon it, thereby twisting the meaning and significance of the text for believers. We should not sheepishly abandon or ignore Genesis but reclaim it as the Christian book it is. Its first eleven chapters tell us who God is and what he is like. They tell us of the origins of the cosmos and the special creation of mankind. In Genesis 1-11, we learn what it means to be human, male, and female in the image of God. We also learn about sin, its consequences, and its final remedy. Genesis 1-11 is properly understood only in light of the entire Bible. It is the right time for this next expository series in the life of our church due to the work many of us have done in biblical theology in the writings of Nancy Guthrie and Graham Goldsworthy.
